It truly has felt like a lifetime since we last were on stage with an audience. 2020 and 2021 have been a truly challenging time for all us. But, we are still dedicated to bringing you theatre that entertains, provokes, and inspires.

Because of the pandemic pause, we have done some serious recalibration on what type of work can entertain, provoke, and inspire. We will still be true to the core of what has brought us to year five as a company. But, we are now looking to broaden our reach and experiment with the theatrical experience. Keep an eye out and ear to the ground for the next chapter of Opal Theatre Company.

One of our biggest challenges from the pandemic is that we are now homeless, or rather we are now nomadic. We will continue to bring you theatrical experiences, it just may not be in the same place from show to show. We continue to seek out an arrangement that is beneficial to both us and to the place we could call home. So, if any of you have any knowledge of a open space that has restrooms and would love having a young company call them home. Don't hesitate to contact us.

ABOUT THE SHOW Three misfit teens from Salem, OR, contemplate what it means to grow up too fast. Solomon wants to find his big breaking news story. Diwata wants an outlet for her self-expression. Howie just wants to fit in at his new school. All three get caught up in a sex scandal they are woefully unprepared for, and find the adults in their lives can’t be trusted with such information. This production was filmed on the Boise Little Theatre stage in February 2021. MEET THE CAST Live on Facebook Join us tonight at 7pm on Facebook to learn how we spent the last two months making SPEECH & DEBATE by Stephen Karam. Ask your questions in the comments!

Opal Theatre has been nominated for Non-Profit of the Year and our thanks and congratulations go to Steve Yockey for his play Bleeding Hearts which was nominated for Comedic Writing of the Year by the Young-Howze Theater Journal! The Journal has reviewed over 140 digital theatre performances across the country since the pandemic began, and we are grateful to be included among an eclectic array of artists, comedians, and other companies like us.

Their awards show will be live-streamed on February 21st, and you can bet we’ll be popping that popcorn and tuning in when it happens.

Thank you!
