Accepting 10-Minute Plays for 2nd Annual Festival

Opal Theatre Co. is inviting writers to submit scripts for the 2nd Annual 10-Minute Play Festival. Submissions close at 11:59:59 PM, July 31st, 2019.

Ten scripts will be selected and performed as readings on October 15th, 2019 at White Dog Brewing Co. featuring local actors and directors.

Submit your ten-minute play to opaltheatrecompany@gmail.com, Subject, "10 Minute Script". You may submit as plays or revisions as you like until 11:59:59 PM, July 31st, 2019.

Synopsis: In the wake of a local tragedy involving gun violence at a community college, single mother Elizabeth Miller and her withdrawn son, Bailey, try to jump-start their relationship across the breakfast table. But with berserker appliances, shifting astronomy, and the talkative new family dog’s interruptions, Elizabeth might not be able to really “see” the person she needs to see most.

Sloane isn't sure why exactly her husband Timothy brought home a probably dangerous drifter. It's something about "doing a good deed." Of course, it's hard to think straight when her kleptomaniac neighbor keeps dropping by to chat and steal. And then things get violent. BLEEDING HEARTS is a dark farce about the disappearing middle class and the way people can slowly forget how to put themselves in each others' shoes.
